A big bookstore on the west side of the. It's a nicely organized store. They have a wide selection of books labeled and organized by genre. And they also sell cds too. Additionally there are nick nacks and even a few bakery treats for sale near the cashier desk. They sell goods to raise money for charity. It's a wonderful store. The customer service could use a lot of work though. Every time I come in to sell or trade books the cashiers clearly don't want to help and act like you are annoying them. I don't come often because of that.

The Frugal Muse Book store is a great store to say the least. Used books, DVDs, CDs, Anime, Manga, RPG/D&D guides, Martial Arts manuscripts, CHILDREN's BOOK, educational books, and so much more. The atmosphere is welcoming and with relaxing music. The employees were kind and helpful, if you couldn't find a book/etc you were looking for, (Downside is no way to search for products electronically in store) they'd order it for you. Out front of the store they have free books and VHS tapes. 99 cent kid books too!! They sell shirts and buttons/ accessories. I believe you can sell books and etc to them... I'd highly recommend the Frugal Muse, it's the best book store I've ever been too. Beats the bookamillion/ barnes n noble. So go and be Cheap and get inspired at the Frugal Muse!

I asked for a non-fiction history book for which the author won the Nobel Peace prize, called the Gulag Archipeligo. The store worker told me it was a fictional account, and filed under fiction. I bought the book because they had it in stock, and it was cheap, but I promptly went to Barnes & Noble to see where they had it filed, and it was under History/Non-Fiction, and everything else available about the book online points to the fact the book is non-fiction. This is akin to filing a book about the Holocaust under fiction. I almost wish I wouldn't have spent my money at Frugal Muse, but in the U.S. we have freedoms that allow us to open businesses and file our products under WHATEVER WE WANT. No consequences like being a Holocaust denier in Germany. Go ahead and deny the harsh realities of Communism without any consequences! So hey, take my 3 bucks, I'm about to teach myself some real history. And good on our Government for allowing any person to run a business, even if their ideas are completely bonkers, they deserve to make a living, too! Awesome used book store. The selection is vast and they have it organized so well. Not the cheapest used books, but still reasonably priced versus buying new (even good priced when comparing to used books on Amazon). I could spend all day here, it is just fantastic. Check out the clearance section in the back of the store. Lots of books of every genre at even better prices!

We really love this bookstore. We enjoy privately owned book stores and small book stores, so this was a really good addition to the places we can go in Madison. They have a great science section and lots of clearance books. There were so many things we wanted to buy, and though they were priced fairly we couldn't take everything home we wanted to. But we had a really great visit and we will definitely be back!

The Frugal Muse is book heaven to the book lover. You must allow yourself more than a couple hours to fully explore all the books. The store is organized and it's easy to navigate the categories. I absolutely loved my experience there but I didn't have enough time. I can't wait to go back again! I forgot to mention the super reasonable prices in gently used books.
